Dynamic is my ode to Girls with coily hair so they can reimagine and dream in a world where their hair isn't a burden but rather dynamic and powerful - an ally and friend. It's complicated for me to explain institutional racism in the context of African-American women's hair and the devastating effects it has on our internal self-esteem, but this is my love letter. I hope that they can see it differently as I do, unique, unruled beauty. This is New Age Black folklore, not just Black folklore but American folklore.
